Flo has his Master’s Degree in German and currently teaches German at a college in Paris.
He also creates ASMR videos for his YouTube channel, Paris ASMR.
Flo became inspired to create a video which merged together relaxing music, tingly French whispers, scenes of Paris, and hypnotic street dancing.
Nick has his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Victoria and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia in Canada.
Nick is also known as the ASMR artist, theASMRnerd. He has created over 130 ASMR videos since February of 2013 and currently has almost 36,000 followers.
And I must confess, “theASMRnerd” is definitely one of my favorite ASMR artist names.
In my interview with Nick he shares why he chose his artist name, the type of content in his videos, the story behind his video “Preparing Scientific Samples”, advice for new ASMR artists, and what he would say to researchers and clinicians to get them more interested in studying ASMR.
A short article about ASMR was posted this week on a website run by the National Sleep Foundation (a non-profit organization located in Washington, DC, USA).
This is very important because it may be the largest, and perhaps the first, education and science-focused organization to not only acknowledge ASMR, but to encourage people to try ASMR for relaxation and insomnia.
Jellybean Green and over 15 other ASMR artists have organized a special fundraiser to assist children whom are not fortunate enough to be a part of a loving and caring family.
Their fundraiser will support Pajama Program, an organization which has spent the past 15 years providing new pajamas and books to children in homeless shelters, group homes, and foster care throughout the U.S.
Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has recently joined the small group of big name companies that have created ASMR-inspired ads.
Dove chocolate released two ASMR-inspired ads in November 2015 and Pepsi posted a short ASMR-inspired ad in April 2016.
And now Colonel Sanders continues the big name tingle-athon.
Beverley “Bev” Fredborg recently received her B.Sc. degree in Biopsychology from the University of Winnipeg and will soon be starting a Master’s degree program in Clinical Psychology at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
She is currently a research assistant with Dr. Stephen Smith, an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Winnipeg.
I initially interviewed this duo in July of 2015 when they began to work together on an ASMR survey project.
And now I am fortunate to do another interview with them about their very recent and exciting ASMR research publication involving fMRI.
Sarah Burton attended Penn State in Pennsylvania, USA and received a B.A. in Journalism, a B.A. in Political Science and a M.A. in Media Studies.
She is currently living in Brooklyn, New York where she performs improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade and is also a humor writer for Buzzfeed.
Sarah is also the voice behind the new Buzzfeed video series, “ASMR News Now”.
Jolien Morren has her Bachelor’s degree in Marine biology and Ecology & Evolution and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Biology and Science Communication and Society at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
Jolien also creates ASMR videos for her YouTube channel, RelaxingSounds92, and for her blog, Sepiola.
I was very interested in talking with Jolien about ASMR after reading the subtitle of her blog, “Biologist and science communicator in the making, ASMR YouTuber, blogger”.
I knew she would have some valuable biological, evolutionary, and other related thoughts about ASMR.
In 2015, Emma Barratt and Nick Davis published the first peer-reviewed research study about ASMR. Their data were collected from online surveys and were very helpful to provide support about the sensations and potential applications of ASMR.
Now, Stephen Smith, Beverley Fredborg, and Jennifer Kornelsen from the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada have published the second peer-reviewed research study about ASMR.
A key difference between these two publication is that the more recent publication by Smith et al is the first biological publication about ASMR.
Jennifer Allen currently lives just outside Plattsburgh in upper state NY, USA. She has attended the University of Southern Maine and is currently a Red Team Manager for a cybersecurity company.
Jennifer is also the person who coined the term, Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.
But that is not all. She has been a significant contributor to the ASMR community from the start.
