  1. I usually don’t have trouble falling asleep, but I have in the past used. At that time, I had no idea that anyone else had this. I was simply just recalling an experience that brought a good relaxing feeling and it seemed to put me to sleep. I sometimes fall asleep by this, though it doesn’t matter much either way.

  2. How did you discover that ASMR helps you to fall asleep?
I had an anthropology professor who made everyone sleepy at his lectures, he wasn’t boring, he was just very calming and now I understand he induced ASMR in me, and possibly in other people too. Poor guy, he got fired because of it. He also had a late night reggae radio show that I loved listening to when I was a teen, it was the only thing that made me fall asleep in the car.
By listening to this podcast. I was laying in bed, having a realy intense ASMR, and felt very sleepy and fell asleep very easily. Only then I understood I’ve had similar experiances before.

Are there specific ASMR triggers or ASMR artists that help you to fall asleep the most?
I find that you work the best for sleep aid, thank you for that! other than that, I don’t search for intentional ASMRtists.

Do you watch videos, listen to audio only, or experience another type of trigger to help you fall asleep?
Audio only. If my partner is nearby, I ask him to cuddle me for a while. Audio works more
efficiently, because I can’t make my partner cuddle me for long and I can’t fall asleep while cuddled.

How does ASMR compare with other methods or treatments you have used to help you to fall asleep or stay asleep? I’ve been using it for a few days now, it’s amazing. It’s like nothing else! I tried relaxing herbal infusions, essential lavender oil, meditation, and relaxation before going to sleep. I never used melatonin or medications, I prefer not to use them.

Have you been diagnosed by a clinician with insomnia or other sleep related disorder?
Yes, I do have insomnia, and fibromyalgia which is also sleep related.

Have you discussed the effect of ASMR on your sleep with your clinician?
Nope. I rarely visit my physician, I find that physicians often pressure on me to try SSRI to induce sleep, even after I tell them that I read researches about SSRI, and decided not to use them. They often overlook other, non pharmaceutical treatment methods, while for me pharmaceutical treatment is a last resort. Their pressure makes me feel very unsafe.

  4. Asmr does help me sleep. I actually came back from holidays witha 12 h jetlag which is kinda bad. I started then watching asmr massage videos and ended up sleeping at 9 pm and waking up at 8 am which is awesome. It really does help you to relax.
