I have created a new page for the website that covers the history of ASMR. It highlights some of the major events from 2008 to the present in a timeline format.
The first part of the page presents a brief view of the history. It is just a bullet list of key dates and events.
The second part of the page presents an expanded ‘witness the history’ version of the timeline. This longer version includes quotes and excerpts from key moments as they happened, such as:
- first post from the first forum to discuss the concept of ASMR
- first posts which coined the terms Attention Induced Head Orgasm and Attention Induced Observant Euphoria
- first post from the Society of Sensationalists
- first comment to the first video uploaded to a whisper-dedicated channel on YouTube
- first post to The Unnamed Feeling Blog
- quote from Jennifer Allen explaining why she coined the term Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response
- comments from the first Reddit thread about ASMR
- blog posts about the creation and removal of the Wikipedia ASMR page
- announcement about the creation of International ASMR day
- first post on Reddit by Bryson Lochte about his MRI research
- and more…
The expanded history also includes links to and information about videos that were considered soothing before whisper/ASMR video channels existed, as well as, a list of some of the first whisper/ASMR channels on YouTube.
