  1. My first experiences of asmr were in primary school, the class would be listening to the teacher reading or watching something on tv and I’d see someone brushing and plaiting someones hair and I’d start feeling an almost drugged, wonderfully relaxed feeling at the base of my brain, possibly in the area of the cerebellum. It was a fantastic feeling that would last as long as the stimulus continued, the second it ended, the feeling would instantly go. I once mentioned it to a friend, as I thought everyone experienced it and she didn’t know what I was talking about.
Other experiences include back drawing/tickling, watching someone drawing/colouring something in and as an adult, although it isn’t a sexual feeling, watching something slow and erotic can also trigger the feeling. There is no build up of sensation that results in a ‘braingasm’, I don’t feel tingles anywhere else and although I find the asmr videos online instantly relaxing and I get a mild sensation of asmr, it has to be spontaneous for me to properly experience the feeling.

  2. It is the best “tingling” feeling that is just so relaxing. It usually only lasts for as long as the trigger is happening. I have only just discovered ASMR was why I felt this. I used to have my kids play with my hair (I still try but the are bigger and dont have time for me, lol) That way they could fix it and make some crazy hairstyles but is was so relaxing for me that I would fall asleep sometimes. Another time was when I was little my granny used to trace letters and numbers on my back while I was going to sleep. The tingling would go from the of my head all over my body. Almost like goosebumps but not as intense.

  4. ASMR for me is a tingling on the scalp, legs or back but mostly the scalp. It is very similar to the relaxing feeling of having your hair played with, but minus the touching. It’s as though the words being whispered trigger the same scalp sensations. It’s very pleasurable. Like a head massage of sorts. For me it induces drowsiness. I can only get these tingles when I’m sleepy. The sleepier I am, the more intense the tingles.
If I am very tired but not yet able to sleep, lots of things will trigger them. I can’t always get them though and I go through periods when i can’t seem to get them at all.

  5. When experienced, asmr creates a tingling sensation that flows throughout my body but excludes extremities such as fingers and toes. The sensation begins as an intense tingling originating in upper back/ neck area limited to the base of the skull. The sensation flows upward into the brain and feels as if it reverberates downward throughout the remainder of my body in a downward motion. The sensations are best described as that of a rolling tingling wavecrest. Each wave produces the same sensation however degrees of intensity may differ from crest to crest. It starts as a high intensity tingle and reduces in strength, then high intensity reducing in strength, over and over, and over again!! I find it easy to describe using a wavecrest as an example.
Along with the tingling the appearance of visual goosebumps will appear. They will also duplicate the wavecrest description of high visual appearance to reduced, over and over again. The appearance of goosebumps will also add to the intensiy of the the sensation although i feel this is caused by the effect of the skin/ hair follicale being altered, however, still greatly adds to the pleasurable experience.
The overall sensation is that of a soothing, calmness with a mind easing sensation which creates a relaxation state of euphoria..
Although many people describe different forms of sensations or feelings that others dont. I do feel that degrees vary. Even through my own experiences with asmr,I have also expanded varying degrees to what I experience at this point today. I am now at the point of instantly being able to vouluntarily perform asmr without triggers just by thought and can vary the degrees of intensity and duration times along with the visual evidence of goosebumps during the entire experience.

Just a side note, I have just learned about asmr a couple of days ago and am now glad to find that others have experienced this wonderful sensation as well. I look forward to learning more myself.
I would most definitely be willing to volunteer for further studies or would be willing to be vetted for proof of asmr.
