  1. No. It’s about the sense of a safe and “intimate” space enveloping me. Insofar as the deepest forms of intimacy can get bound up with sexuality for people after maturation I can understand how they can be hard to separate for some.

  2. I notice that when I am sexually aroused my back and down my spine are so sensitive and tingly if the person touches me there it causes me to jump. I used to think it was an erogenous zone. However, now I feel like it’s my ability to experience asmr paired with certain triggers from being close to someone. Like if things are getting hot and heavy and the person has their mouth near your ear or on your neck. These things can trigger the asmr due to the hearing sensitivity most of us have that gives us tingles. At this point it seems sexual because it enhances your sense of touch puts your more in tune with your body and the signals it’s putting out. I don’t think asmr is sexual in nature, just that it can be an aid in sexual gratification if the person is triggered (and of course everyone has different triggers, so what I experience may not be the case for someone else).

    NO.

How is your ASMR similar to a sexual response?
    It’s not similar, at all.

How is your ASMR different from a sexual response?
I’m calm and relaxed, not hot and bothered.

  4. I think it really varies from person to person. A majority of people don’t feel that it’s sexual, but I know others may find certain audios to be arousing. I think different people have different responses to auditory stimuli and there is a small percentage of people whose bodies react in a sexual way to ASMR. It really just depends on you. So it’s not right when people say that asmr is NEVER a sexual feeling, because they only know how THEIR bodies react to auditory stimuli.
