Update: What ever happened to SensorAdi, the ASMR artist who almost lost his teaching job 8 years ago?

In 2015, I shared the incredible story of the ASMR artist, SensorAdi, who almost lost his job as a high school teacher in Poland because he created ASMR videos.

In summary, the parents of some of his students expressed concerns to school administrators about his ASMR videos on YouTube.  At that time, ASMR was not well known in Poland.  The administrators gave him an ultimatum, delete his strange videos or face disciplinary action.

SensorAdi, with the help of a lawyer and ASMR researchers (including myself), fought back by sharing published data and letters from scientists that supported ASMR videos were beneficial.  Soon after, the administrators understood the videos better and allowed him to keep his ASMR channel and his job. That was 8 years ago.  Is SensorAdi still teaching high school?  Is he still creating ASMR videos?  How popular is ASMR in Poland today?

I reached out to SensorAdi (real name Adrian Biskup) for an update.

First off, yes, Adrian is still a High School teacher in Poland, and he is still creating ASMR videos on YouTube.

He also shared responses to the following questions.

What thoughts do you have today about that moment in 2015 when parents voiced their concerns about your ASMR videos to the school administrators?

In those years, there were probably only two artists creating ASMR in Poland. Here, no one knew or heard about it. A teacher making “weird videos” – they just had to explain it to them. And your letter was very helpful in this, and it was a beautiful gesture and deed. To this day I am grateful to you.”

How has the perception of ASMR in Poland changed since 2015?

The situation has changed a lot! Today I have the impression that ASMR is popular. Also thanks to the media, which covered the topic many times. There are many ASMR artists in Poland today. It’s a different world today!

Why are you still so involved and passionate about creating ASMR content?

This is an important element of life for me. It’s a passion from which I can also draw support from my viewers. Nowadays, people don’t appreciate each other enough, they don’t praise each other enough. I get it from them. It’s true that I never watch my films, but creating them occupies my mind and disconnects and relaxes me.”

In 2015, Adrian had posted about 150 ASMR videos on YouTube.

Today, he has about 1500 ASMR videos and 253,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Here are some recent comments from his YouTube viewers:

“As always, your sound quality is unmatched! Super tingly and relaxing zzz”

“Incredibly Relaxing, the best ASMR nowadays 🎉…. I’m falling sleep”

“The quality is amazing! Thank you for another relaxing video!”

“Your close-up ASMR, especially the hand movement stuff is the best of anyone”

“Great hand movements the last little bit at the end was just masterful, you really are the only asmrtist that makes me relax for real. Thanks Adi, hope you are doing well and everyone watching this as well, bless :)”
