  1. I’ve only just discovered that there’s a name for the tingling feeling I get at certain times and would like to be able to experience more often. For me its been about knowing myself and being able to be more intimate and accepting of myself and others. I’ve had the feeling when I’m “in the zone” very occasionally. The most amazing asmr feeling occurred when my son wrote a story and I was the central character and this made me conscious that you cant hide your emotional state from children.

  2. Yes, it does help with stress. When I am very stressed out and need to relax, I listen to calming ASMR videos. Usually not role plays, because my mind is already moving quite fast and it is hard to follow along with them. When in this state, I prefer ASMR of just talking; comforting in a soft spoken voice or whisper, and sometimes giving advice on anxiety or panic attacks. I discovered it when I was very anxious for a long time and was struggling to find ways to cope. I looked up “ASMR Anxiety” and was pleasantly surprised to find many ASMR videos regarding anxiety help. I have PTSD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, so ASMR videos alone do not do the trick. But they are a great help when I need to calm down and other coping skills are not working. I have not told my clinicians about this.

  3. I don’t think I get stressed out too much (maybe due to my ASMR addiction) but stress-relief was pretty much the driver to my discovery of the ASMR community.

in 2010 I found out I was going to be on Wheel of Fortune and I had a lot of trouble sleeping (mind was racing etc.) So I starting listening to movies on my Ipod to get my mind of of things and I found out that I could sleep better that way. Then I remember watching a show (trying to go to sleep) with a lot of whispering and getting the ASMR tingling sensation. This was this first time I found a trigger that I could moderately control. I then went on Youtube looking for whisper videos and found the ASMR community. Life changed forever.

  4. Yes, it does! At least for me. As I mentioned in my answer for the previous question on ASMR and sleep, I listen to audio ASMR while at work to help me focus and curb work stress.
