Applebee’s joins Sony, Toyota, Pepsi, KFC, Dove, Ritz, IKEA, and Glenmorangie Whisky in utilizing ASMR videos for marketing.
The new video is posted on their YouTube video channel, “Applebee’s Grill & Bar” and the video is titled, “[ASMR] One Hour of Soothing Grill Sounds – Sizzling Meat”
The 60 minute video shows one camera angle focused on different pieces of meat (surf and turf) cooking on a flame grill. The sizzling sounds of the cooking are probably the intended ASMR trigger.
That is the entire video.
If you want to watch shorter videos of just one type of meat, then there are also four 15 minute videos you can watch.
At best, I would call this an “ASMR-inspired commercial” because sizzling sounds of meat cooking are not commonly reported as an ASMR trigger.
So far, I think Ikea and Dove chocolate have created the best ASMR-inspired commercials so far.
Is the Applebee’s video ad an impressive ASMR video? No.
Is the Applebee’s video ad relaxing? For some, yes.
Although many companies may not produce praise-worthy ASMR video ads, I’ll take the simplicity of relaxing sounds with calming imagery over someone shouting about how great their product or service is.
ASMR is helping to bring peace and calm to the world in more ways than one.
